Beware of lawyers that claim to be experts in Georgia military divorce law, SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY SERVED ON ACTIVE DUTY or were deployed.
Military service is admirable and honorable. However, Active Duty Service in a non-legal field, such as Infantry, Finance, or Transportation, (with no military family law training) has no correlation to being an Expert Georgia Military Divorce Lawyer.
A lawyer that over emphasizes "military experience" and states that his or her "military" or "combat" experience is the key factor that will win your military divorce, child custody dispute, criminal case, or any other type of legal problem, is likely covering up for what really matters. Legal skill, education, experience, reputation with judges, reputation with clients, and reputation with other lawyers in the community.
Use your common sense and judgment to determine whether the lawyer is simply tooting their own horn and exploiting their service as a way to make money or they are a legitimate military family law expert.
Bottom line: Be careful when a lawyer over emphasizes their military service over their legal abilities.
